Eligibility & Scoring

  • Formal fixtures are held every four weeks, as announced by the committee and posted on the fixtures page. These are the headline events — where legends are made, handicaps are humbled, and bragging rights are earned.

    Members are encouraged to play between fixtures too. Informal rounds can be logged if you’re playing with at least one other member and sticking to club rules. The more you play, the more laughs, stories, and chances to climb the leaderboard — or crash gloriously trying.

  • To qualify for the finals fixture, members must play a minimum of 4 out of the 7 formal fixtures. It’s not just about skill — it’s about showing up, swinging often, and being part of the chaos. More rounds mean more laughs, more banter, and a better shot at eternal Mulligan Masters glory (or at least a decent story at the bar).

  • All rounds are scored using the Stableford system — because at the Mulligan Masters, we prefer points over pain. It rewards consistency, forgives disasters, and keeps even the loosest swingers in the mix. Triple bogey? No stress — just another zero.

    Scores must be recorded by your playing partner, no exceptions. It keeps things fair, honest, and mildly humiliating when they enter that “1” for your wipe. Play fast, score fair, and don’t pretend you understand the maths after a few beers.

  • All members must maintain an active 18Birdies profile — our digital clubhouse for logging rounds, tracking scores, and claiming bragging rights.

    All formal fixture scores must be entered via 18Birdies under the current season tournament. No screenshots, no guesses — if it’s not in the app, it didn’t happen.

  • Each fixture brings glory, laughs, and the occasional miracle shot worth celebrating. The top performers don’t just earn points — they earn prestige (and probably a few beers shouted their way).

    • 🥇 Highest Stableford Score

    • 🥈 Second Highest Stableford Score

    Novelties:

    • 💩 NAGA (Not A Golfer’s Arsehole) — awarded to the day’s most creative struggler.

    • 💪 Longest Drive x2 — one per nine, for those who actually find the fairway.

    • 🎯 Nearest to the Pin x2 — proof that miracles happen, occasionally.

    • 🪄 Best Second Shot — because sometimes recovery is more impressive than the plan.

    • 🧭 Longest Putt — the stuff of legend, luck, and pure guesswork.

Game Play Rules

  • Ready Golf

    To keep play moving, the first player ready should tee off — forget the honours system. Ready golf rules here; faster swings mean more beers at the 19th.

  • Preferred Lie

    When on the correct fairway, players may improve their lie by moving the ball up to one club length in any direction, provided it’s not closer to the hole.

  • Gallery Rule

    If a ball is lost in the rough adjacent to the fairway but would have been found by a hypothetical gallery, the player may take a free drop. Location to be agreed by the entire playing group. If the ball is assumed to be OB, a penalty drop must be taken.

  • Mulligan

    Each player is allowed two mulligans per 18-hole round. Players may only take one mulligan on the front 9 and one mulligan on the back 9. Mulligans are playable from the tee box only.

  • Gimme

    If ball lies closer to the hole than grip of your putter when placing the head of the putter in the hole, you can pickup and count as one stroke.

  • Unplayable Lie

    Where the ball is on large rocks, tree roots, or man-made objects, players may take a free drop without improving line of sight to the green. If you can play sideways or backwards, no free drop.

  • Ball Drops

    All drops must be taken from knee height, straight down — no fancy flinging. Unless you’re Daz, of course, in which case hip height is entirely acceptable.

  • Max Score Per Hole

    Once a player reaches double the par, they may pick up and record the max score (e.g. 8 on a par 4). It’s mercy, not maths — you’re just shit.

  • Ball Hit on Green

    If your ball is hit on the green and you had reasonable time to mark it, play it from the new spot. If there was no time to mark, replace the ball in its original spot with group agreement.
